1/4222 Rebel Blockade Runner

This is the Arvey Model Products Rebel Blockade Runner, better know as Princess Leia's Ship from the opening of Star Wars IV: A New Hope. This tiny model came with the upgrade kit I used for my Star Destroyer, and at 1/4222 scale, fits nicely in the hangar bay of the AMT/MPC kit.

I added a small strip of styrene for the top radar dish.
And drilled out the engine blocks:

All finished, a quick weekend build that looks great with the rest of the 1/4222 fleet.

There is a newer kit of this ship by Utar Ships also in 1/4222 scale.  I hope to have my hands on it soon to do a comparison work up.

Imperial Escort Cruiser: Finished

Finished work on the Imperial Escort Cruiser. Really happy with how this one turned out, and not bad considering it's only my second scratchbuild. It's hard to tell from the photos, but the finished length is only 2.1 inches.

Shown next to my Imperial Star Destroyer for scale:

The rest of the 1/4222 fleet.

Still more than an hand full of unstarted projects to work on.

Imperial Escort Cruiser: Work In Progress

A few more work in progress pics. So far this has been a fun experience, and good practice in scratchbuilding.  Finished pics soon.

1/4222 MC-30 & Jedi Cruiser

Two quick weekend builds, both at 1/4222 scale. First the MC-30 Assault Frigate. Built by the Mon-Cal to be a mid-range battleship.

Next, the Arquitens-class light cruiser, known more commonly as the Republic light cruiser or the Jedi light cruiser. A small, fast and manuverable ship in the Star Destroyer family.

Imperial Escort Cruiser

Now that I am done with Serenity and my commission projects, I'm starting on a project that I have been wanting to try since I found this design back in January.  The Imperial Escort Cruiser is a fan design that I found on DeviantArt .  It is a small patrol Cruiser that belongs to the Star Destroyer ship line.

Since no kit of this exists, I will be scratch building the entire ship.  As this is only my second attempt at doing this kind of thing, the Escort Cruiser is ideal.  Lots of straight lines to keep things simple. I plan on building this at 1/4222 scale to match my growing fleet of Star Destroyers. At that scale the finished model works out to 2.1 inches long. Here are the renders that I am working from:

I started by working out the rough shapes in MsPaint as I don't have any 3D modeling software:

Then I cut the shape for the upper hull in styrene:

And assembled a rough look:

After looking at my cut outs, I decided that I wasn't too fond of what I had.  I went back and reworked my entire blue print to something I'm a lot happier with.

Here is the new blueprint next to my original:

Still have a long ways to go with this one. But I think it will turn out great.
