Interdictor class Star Destroyer

The Immobilizer 418 cruiser, also known as the Interdictor-class heavy cruiser was small Star Destroyer in the Imperial Fleet. The main purpose of this ship was to create mass shadows with it's four gravity well projectors to prevent enemy ships from escaping to hyperspace.

I finally finished my build up of the .JPG 1/4222 Interdictor class Star Destroyer, mastered by Nicholas Sagan.  This is a really great kit, and comes with lots of extra parts to build an Enforcer class, Vindicator class or to kitbash your own small class SD.

What you Get:
I decided to sand off the detail for the bridge windows and replace it with some photo etch:

The kit comes with lots of thin wire to add the antenna array:
There are a few minor fit gaps, but nothing a little bit of sanding an putty can't fix:

Reactor plate with lots of detail:
 Main Hanger bay:
Finished pics.  I put down a base coat of Tamiya Insignia white, masked a few panels off and then added a top coat of Tamiya Flat White.  The effect is subtle, but I like it.

Naboo Starfighter

While I think that is safe to say that Prequel trilogy was hit and miss story wise, the one thing that it did deliver on was new ship designs.  One of my favorites is the Naboo N-1 starfighter. A sleek, glossy fighter with smooth curves and bright paint scheme.

This kit is built from the 1/72 scale FineMolds kit. It was a quick and easy build and a lot of fun. I have learned two important things from this build. 1. Always put a coat of black on anything you plan to paint metallic. 2. Metallic paint WILL show every single imperfection and ding. Oh well, good things to remember for when I finally get around to my Firefly build.

Straight from the box:

Finished, I used a FM X-Wing stand instead of the kit stand to save some space on my shelf:

TIE Defender Finshed

Finished work on the 1/72 scale TIE Defender, and finally got a change to use my new airbrush. After some trial and error, I finally got a look that I was happy with.

To build my stand, I modified a FineMolds 1/72 scale X-Wing stand to support the TIE Defender's off balance cockpit ball.

A shot of the pilot in the hollowed out cockpit before sealing it up with the canopy frame.

And after paint, washing and weathering, the final product:

My growing 1/72 scale TIE squadron. The X1(Vader's TIE) and the Interceptor are the Revell Pocket kits, and are just a bit smaller than 1/72 scale but, they will do until I can pick up the kits that do fit.

1/72 TIE Defender Work in Progress

I have recently begun work on the 1/72 TIE Defender model produced by JBOT from the masters made by REL.  It's a really good kit and come with lots of extra optional parts that the original release of the kit did not.

What you get:

To get started I used my Dremel to hollow out the cockpit ball:

This production of the kit came with a plate to add detail to the back of the cockpit:
It also comes with a plug to fill the hole caused from drilling out the cockpit:
This pilot was borrowed from the Revell Pocket kit TIE Interceptor:
I sanded off the top hatch and replaced with the clear cast resin hatch included with the kit:
The wings needed a little work:

The wing hubs were really the only part of the kit that bothered me. Here is how it comes:
I decided to sand that bit off and replace it with the wing hub from the Revell Pocket TIE Interceptor. I cast a few resin copies to work with.
Here is the new wing hub. To me this makes it seem much more a "TIE" fighter:
Still a little touch ups here and there to do, then I'm going to pull out the airbrush I got for Christmas and try it out. Thanks for looking.

Chiss Clawcraft

This model is a ship that made its first appearance in the novels that take place after the Return of the Jedi. The Nssis-class Clawcraft was a star fighter normally associated with the Chiss, but in fact was a hybrid of Chiss and Imperial TIE technology. I really like this design, and since it is a ship that never had any screen time in the movies, there is no wrong way to paint it. I decided to paint this one blue with silver highlights simply because I was a little tired of gray and white ships.  Built from the 1/72 scale Blue Moon Kit:
